Make Your Child's School a Clean Air School
Three reasons your child's school should get involved:
1. Your child's health is at stake.
Children breathe 50% more air per pound of body weight than adults. Children are also closer to the ground, where emissions come from vehicle tailpipes. The Clean Air Schools No-Idling program reduces unnecessary idling in the carpool and bus line at your child's school, helping young lungs breathe easier.
2. Educating our future leaders is important.
The Clean Air Schools program, in cooperation with the Georgia Department of Education, makes lesson plans available to educators that bolster math and science curriculum. These lessons cover air quality and transportation topics that stimulate critical thinking.
3. School communities should take credit for their green efforts.
Georgia elementary, middle and high schools can participate in The Clean Air Schools program at no cost and with minimal administrative effort. The best part is the positive impact that comes with thinking and acting green.
